A South Dakota Christmas

Hello everyone.

A couple of days before Christmas, we traveled up to South Dakota to celebrate Christmas with daddy's family.  It's a long drive up there, so I had to entertain mommy most of the way.

While we were up there, it snowed quite a bit and mommy thought it would be fun if I went sledding.  I had never gone sledding before, so we brought an expert with us -cousin Adam.  It's sure a process to get all dressed up to go outside to play in the snow.
All bundled up and ready to go!
"I'm not so sure about this Adam"
"weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!"

On Christmas Eve, Grandma Judy prepared us a fine feast.  Before supper, I had to tell cousins Liz & Kayla about table manners.
I told them that it would alright to sit on grandpa's lap during dinner.
And that it was important to use a napkin.
After dinner, it was time to draw names and open presents.
Check out the dinosaur that aunt Karen gave me -there will be more pictures of this once I help daddy put it together!
And the roller that aunt Kathy gave me.
Grandma and Grandpa had a table built just for me (and for some stuffed Santas too)
Me and my cousins hanging out on Christmas Eve.

On Christmas morning, I woke up and saw that there was a half eaten cookie and half a glass of milk next to the tree.  Santa must have come!!  He did, and he left me a doll house!!

Not only is the doll house fun to play with, but the box it came in is fun too!
After a hard morning of playing on Christmas Day, it was time for a snack at my table with the my pals.

After our snack, daddy and I went outside and played in the snow.  brrrrrrr!

The day after Christmas is Grandpa Terry's birthday.  Happy Birthday Grandpa!

What a great trip!!  I was so glad to see everyone in South Dakota again.  Thanks for all of gifts everyone, you spoil me too much.  And thanks to Grandma & Grandpa for letting me stay with you.

We hope that everyone had a great Christmas,

Kaitlyn, mommy, daddy.

Mommy got me some puzzles and daddy got me a horse and carriage.  And then daddy surprised me and mommy with another carriage!  A trailer to pull behind the bicycle.  We're going to have so much fun with this.

Getting Ready for Christmas

Christmas is getting closer every day!!

The kitty and I have been busy making sure the nativity scene is setup just right.

This past weekend, it was time to make Christmas cookies!  Frank came up and was our official taste tester.
Last year, I wasn't much help....
2009
But now that I'm a big girl, I was able to help decorate the cookies.
Every now and then, I would have to do a "quality check" to make sure everything was just right :)
Not only did Frank help with the cookies, but he also brought me a present.  Cookies and a present, can the day get any better???

Thanks so much Frank!

It was also time to wrap some presents and put them under the tree.
While mommy wrapped presents, I entertained everyone with some Christmas music.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas,

Kaitlyn

Christmas Tree Shopping

The other day we went out to chop down (pick one out of pile) a Christmas tree out at the enchanted forest (Lowe's).  We hiked (road on a cart)...
...for miles (3 aisles) ....
searching for the perfect tree.  After hours (about 10 minutes) of searching,
we finally found one and loaded it onto the sleigh (daddy's car).

"Hey, what's this tree doing in my car?"

Once we got the tree home, it was time to decorate it with the finest (non-breakable) of ornaments.

"hmmm, one about right here should do it..."
No Christmas tree is finished until you put the star on top.

With the tree all decorated, I can rock next to it and read stories to the kitty.
The kitty loves the tree as much as I do.

Mommy and daddy thought we should go see Santa.
I, on the other hand, wasn't excited about the idea and let everyone in the store know it!  It wasn't good.  Santa is really fun to see in books, but I'm not quite ready yet to meet him in person.  Maybe next year.

....and to all a good night,

Kaitlyn
