My First Birthday

Happy Birthday to Me!!!!

On Thursday I celebrated my first birthday!  What a great day.  It started off normal but then I heard them say my name on TV!  Mommy and daddy sent my picture in to be read on the morning news and there I was.  How cool is that?!?!  Here I am on TV

We had a birthday party at work with party hats and cupcakes, mommy and daddy even came to help us celebrate.

Thursday was my last day in the bunny room at work, next week I'll move into the kitten room.  I had to say goodbye to my fellow bunnies, which is no fun but some of my older friends are in the kitten room now so the old gang will be back together!

Mommy and daddy took the rest of my birthday off from work so we were able to go home and play.  What a great birthday present.

On Friday, grandma Judy & grandpa Terry came down for a long weekend.  We played and read stories, what a great surprise.

Saturday, Aunt Kathy, Uncle Brian and cousins Kayla, Connor & Adam came down.  We were all excited to watch the football game between Nebraska and South Dakota State (were daddy, Brian & Aunt Karen went to school).

Me and Adam wore our Jacks gear to cheer them on.  SDSU played a tough game, but the Jackrabbits lost :(

I thought it had been a fun and busy couple of days, but they didn't compare at all to Sunday.  That's when my big party was held.  Uncle Dave, cousin Jordan and grandma Mary came over and then aunt Karen, uncle Bret and cousin Queen Liz came.  Mommy & daddy's friend Frank came up to wish me a happy birthday too.  What a full house we had!

Before the party started, me and grandma Judy had to make sure the decorations were just right.

For my big party, we made ice-cream.  Way to churn Connor, Adam and Jordan!
Once the ice-cream was ready, it was time for lunch!
After lunch, it was time to open presents!!!  I could get use to this!

"oooohhhhhhhh"

"What do we have here???"
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, out comes a cake just for me!!!
"Mmmmmm"

While everyone was finishing their cake, I read them my new storybook in my new rocking chair.
After cake, uncle Dave and I had tea.
Frank and I read some more stories.
Cousin Liz told me what it's like to be homecoming queen!
It was time to dance with cousin Jordan!
"Rmmm Rmmm"  Grandpa Terry is telling me what it's like to hit the open road on his Harley.  Can't wait for a ride.....
"Thanks grandma Mary for my tea set!"
Kayla and I needed to take a little break from all of the excitement.
"Connor, I don't think that hat is going to fit you."
Thanks for coming down everybody.
And to the camera shy DeJongs :)

Thanks everyone for making this my best birthday ever!!
Love Kaitlyn.

Last Day of Being Zero

Today is the last day of me being a baby.  Tomorrow is my 1st birthday!!!  I'm so excited.  We have a big party planned at work -cupcakes and everything.  I'm even helping mommy with the decorations.
Getting ready for a party isn't all fun and games.  We still have to clean up, and I'm doing my part by helping take out the trash.  You'd think a little girl could catch a break!
Did you see all of those teeth in that picture?  There are six of them!  With all of those teeth, I'd better start to take care of them.

Once we were all done cleaning up, it was time to kick back and watch a little TV.

I saved a new trick just for the end of my first year.  Look what I can do now.
I'm not limiting myself to just going down the steps, going up the steps is just as much fun!

Without getting too sentimental about my first year, I'd like to give everyone who has helped me and mommy and daddy out.  We couldn't have done it without you!

Click on the picture below to make it bigger.

See you when I'm one!!

Mommy & Daddy's Anniversary

Hello Everybody.
You can't tell from this picture, but I have 3 new teeth coming in!  Mommy & daddy have to be pretty careful now when they're trying to dig things I shouldn't be eating out of my mouth.

I was cleaning/dumping out all of my toys the other day and realized that I fit nicely in my toy basket.
Once I got out, somebody else thought she should give it a try.
That silly kitty, toy baskets are for little kids not kitties!

We had a really nice weekend here, so I spent some time out on the new deck.

Hanging out with mommy.

This week was mommy & daddy's 3rd anniversary.  I gave them the evening off and had a friend come over and play with me while they went out for supper.

FYI - my birthday party invitations are taking a long time at the printers
just a reminder my very first birthday party will be 9/26/10 at high noon

Have a good week everyone, arrrgggg (my pirate face)

Labor Day Weekend

Hi everybody!
"I cleaned my plate."

It's been awhile since my last update, I've sure been a busy little girl!

Every morning I have to get all ready to go to work.
The work doesn't end when I get home, now it's time to clean the house.
Organizing the kitchen....
Dusting...
Cleaning the carpet when somebody spilled their bottle.  I don't know who that could have been....
Sometimes I get a break from my chores to have a little snack.  Mommy even lets me wear her hat from when she was a little girl.

"Mommy, what's with all of the denim?"
Last week I went to my very first football game.  It was so fun to watch the boys run around and the crowd cheering for the teams.  Me and mommy went to go watch daddy officiate the game, so we cheered for him.

On Saturday we went back to the zoo, I just love that place.  They have a learning area for kids where we can get really to the animals.
On Sunday we went to a lake with some friends.  I even got a boat ride, that was way too much fun.  Thanks for inviting us guys!

Talk to you later,

Kaitlyn
